After seeing some of these rocks on various websites, I went to the beach and gathered a bunch of smooth stones. I took a fine Sharpie and drew patterns and then sealed each with spray polyurethane. I now have a fun way to decorate both my garden and the tops of my houseplants. You can also use rubber stamps with water-based ink.

Book of Scraps

I love the idea of this book of scraps that I found on One Good Bumblebee. It is a great way to make a unqiue book while using all of those odds and ends we artists keep. The binding is a simple wire spiral and can be done at home or taken to Kinkos.

Indian Printing Blocks

I love these Indian wooden carved printing blocks. They can be used for rubbings, stamping on paper and cards, making t-shirts and as art themselves. I have a whole bowl full in my living room. Sometimes I clean off the ink and other times I let it dry on the wood block to create a different look. You can get them in a variety of places these days: ethnic stores, Ebay, Etsy to name a few.

YourFont is a free, web-based program that allows you to turn your handwriting into a font. Basically, all you have to do is: (1)Download their PDF template, (2) Write out your alphabet, (3) Scan and (4) Upload. Then just download the finished font . Unique Crayons

Make your own unique crayons. Take a silicone baking tray (you can get shapes at Michael's) and place all of those broken crayon bits into the holes. Try and make sure that the pieces are about equal size. Fill each hole 1/3 of the way up. Place in a 250-degree oven for about 20 minutes. Let stand and cool for 30 minutes. Pop your new crayons out of the tray.
