Aeling’s large canvases begin life as small abstract, journal-like, visual explorations of the world around her - gardens, interior spaces, and seasonal weather. Numerous sketches tacked on the studio walls serve as a point of departure for exploration - reminders of a time of day, quality of light, or energy of line.
