"Karyl Sisson is known as a basket-maker but rightly considers herself primarily a sculptor. She is a pack-rat who collects vintage objects such as zippers, buttons, and clothespins, many of which eventually find their way into her art, as well as natural objects such as shells and seedpods which serve as inspiration for her sculptural forms. "A reverence for once-common materials and construction techniques is basic to my approach," she observes. Her series of "Faux Pots," made of cloth tape measures, have different, intricate patterns on the inside and outside, created by the marks and numbers printed on the tapes." - Mobilia Gallery
