Roger Rimel

"In this work I am trying to create a place of contemplation. If time is change then the enduring remains are documents. Nature leaves traces of itself, how it was, what was essential. Rock formations, fossils, erosion, rust, and the motion of water reveal the evidence of the present and how it has changed into the past. I respond to the patterns and marks on surfaces; the information that is left behind after time has passed over it. As we pass through time we also leave patterns, fingerprints of ourselves; in graffiti, petroglyphs, billboards, ruins, agriculture, myths and poems. It is these ideas that I use to begin each piece." - Roger Rimel
