Jessica Turrell

"Over the last few years I have undertaken research into mark making in enamel using non-traditional techniques. Experimental and flexible approaches to the material developed during this time have informed my most recent work in which I seeks to create jewellery that moves away from traditional enamel practice in order to achieve a more ambiguous and expressive material quality. In the ‘winter’ series enamel is layered over an etched metal surface, fired, and then abraded away in a process that re-exposes marks that have been previously hidden. I strive to achieve a tactile delicacy whilst making pieces that reward the wearers close attention with an intricate and detailed surface." - Jessica Turrell
