"All pieces are hand built around a found object- as opposed to finding the object after the figure is constructed. I use earthenware or raku clay and bisque fire to cone 04. Oxide and Mason stains, underglazes and terra siglatas are applied and the work is re-fired to cone 04 until I am pleased with the surface. Certain components of my figures are glazed to cone 05 and I may apply cold finish. I attach the various body parts using a variety of power tools and hardware. " - Joan Rasmussen
