Janet Matthews

"The photograph becomes a starting point that I can continue to explore through other processes. I use a hybrid approach, combining digital with more traditional methods such as film, wet darkroom and, more recently, processes used in the 19th century. I enjoy using hands-on methods to make my final prints, often incorporating handcoloring or collage, which allow the images to become not only representations, but physical artifacts of the creative process." - Janet Matthews
